Date Loaf Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    1/2 stick oleo
    1 3/4 c. milk
    1 (7 oz.) box dates
    1 Tbsp. white Karo syrup
    2 c. chopped pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook the first 5 ingredients until forms soft ball stage. Remove from heat; add pecans and vanilla.
    Beat until thick.
    Pour onto damp cloth and shape into a roll.
    Let cool, then cut into slices.
