Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 eggs, separated
    2 1/2 c. milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. (heaping) cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3/4 c. coconut
    1 baked 9-inch pie shell
Preparation
    In a 2-quart saucepan beat egg yolks and milk.
    Combine sugar, salt and cornstarch.
    Stir into milk.
    Cook, stirring constantly, over medium-high heat until smooth and thickened.
    Remove from heat.
    Beat in butter, vanilla and coconut.
    Turn into pie shell. Beat egg whites and place on pie.
    Sprinkle coconut over meringue.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 until golden brown.
