Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    2 lb. beef round steak (1-inch thick)
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 lb. can tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
Preparation
    Combine flour with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper and pound into meat.
    Brown meat on both sides in hot shortening.
    Top with onion and cut up tomatoes.
    Cover and cook over low heat about 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
    Add green peppers and cook 15 minutes more.
    Skim off excess fat and thicken juices if desired.
