One Egg Cake(Depression Era - 1930'S) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
3/4 c. milk

Preparation

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
Cream the shortening with sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat thoroughly.
Add sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately in small amounts, beating well after each addition.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
