Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/4 c. pecan halves
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In heavy, 4-quart pan, combine sugars, baking soda, milk and salt.
    Boil over moderate heat until it reaches thread stage (230\u00b0).
    Remove from heat.
    Add butter, nuts and vanilla.
    Beat candy until it starts to become thick and slightly sugary.
    Then place pan over low heat to prevent candy from becoming too hard.
