Popcorn Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 qt. popped corn (unbuttered)
    2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Keep popcorn hot and crisp in oven (300\u00b0 to 325\u00b0).
    Use candy thermometer.
    Cook sugar, water, salt and corn syrup to very hard ball stage (256\u00b0). Add vanilla and vinegar.
    Cook to light crack stage (270\u00b0).
    Pour slowly over popcorn.
    Mix well to coat every kernel.
    Press into balls before syrup hardens.
    Use lots of butter on hands as syrup is very hot.
    Makes about 1 dozen balls.
