German Chocolate Cake And Filling - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. margarine (1 stick)
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
3 c. plain flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Melt German chocolate in boiling water; stir until completely dissolved and smooth.
Cream together margarine and shortening. Add sugar gradually.
Add egg whites and beat until light and fluffy.
Mix in chocolate and vanilla.
Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Beat until well mixed.
Pour into 3 greased and floured pans
and bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
