Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head grated red cabbage
    1 bay leaf
    1 tart apple, peeled and sliced thin
    1 Tbsp. raspberry syrup or regular syrup
    1 minced onion
    5 whole cloves
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    1/4 c. red wine
Preparation
    Brown onion lightly in 2 tablespoons oil, mixed with 1 tablespoon oleo and grated cabbage.
    Stir.
    Add about 1 cup water, bay leaf, cloves and vinegar.
    Let simmer for 30 minutes, then add apple-syrup, salt-pepper and wine.
    Let simmer for 30 more minutes.
    Freezes well and tastes best when reheated.
