Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. white Karo syrup
    1/4 tsp. almond extract
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. water
    few drops red food coloring (enough for pretty color)
    1 qt. fresh strawberries
    baked pie crust, cooled
Preparation
    Cook 1/2 cup water and white syrup on low heat until it comes to a boil; stir often.
    Mix the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water and add it to the mixture.
    Let it boil on higher heat for about 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
    Add the flavoring and the food coloring.
    Let the mixture get real cool before you pour it over the berries.
