Coconut Sour Cream Layer Cake(3 Day Cake) - cooking recipe

1 pkg. butter type cake mix
2 c. sugar
1 (16 oz.) carton sour cream
1 (12 oz.) pkg. frozen coconut, thawed
1 (9 oz.) carton whipped topping (Cool Whip)
Preparation

Prepare cake mix according to package directions.
When layers are completely cooled, split both of them and make four layers. Combine sugar, sour cream and coconut, blending well; chill. Reserve 1 cup of sour cream mixture for frosting.
Spread remaining between layers.
Combine the one cup of sour cream with whipped topping, blending smoothly.
Spread on top and sides of cake.
Seal cake in airtight container and refrigerate for 3 days.
