Ambrosia Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 large orange
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/3 c. margarine
1 (6 1/2 oz.) pkg. fluffy white frosting mix
Preparation

Peel, section and seed orange.
Whirl orange in blender. Prepare cake mix by package directions.
Fold 1/3 cup orange into batter and bake in 2 (8-inch) layer cake pans as directed on package.
Cool.
In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add margarine, 1 cup water and remaining orange.
Bring to boil, stirring, and cook
2 minutes.
Cool and stir in coconut.
Split each layer and spread each layer and top with mixture.
Prepare frosting as directed on package and spread on sides of cake. Garnish top with halved maraschino cherries.
