Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 egg
    5/8 c. milk
    butter or margarine
    4 c. strawberries
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
    Cut in fat until it is like corn meal.
    Combine the beaten eggs and milk.
    Add to the flour mixture to make a very soft dough.
    Turn on floured board and toss lightly.
    Pat or roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Cut with cookie cutter for individual servings or cut in two sections and bake in sheets.
    Spread one serving or sheet with butter and top with the other one.
    Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 450\u00b0.
    When done, separate the two sections and serve sweetened strawberries between the layers and over the top.
    Serve with cream, plain or whipped.
