Texas Cornbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. yellow cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation

Mix cornmeal, flour and salt thoroughly, then add remaining ingredients (without mixing).
Grease heavy, iron skillet well. Stir the mixture thoroughly and pour into the hot pans.
Bake at 450\u00b0 until done.
The bread will be moist and brown on the bottom.
