Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 Heritage eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 scant tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make a paste of the food coloring and the cocoa.
    Add to creamed mixture.
    Sift together flour and salt, alternately add to batter with buttermilk and vanilla.
    Stir in vinegar and soda by hand.
    Do not beat.
    Pour into cupcake pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Decorate as desired.
    Makes about 2 dozen.
