Golden Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 small onion, finely chopped
3/4 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
vegetable oil

Preparation

Combine cornmeal and onion.
Add milk and egg, stirring well. Carefully drop batter by tablespoon into deep hot oil (370\u00b0). Cook only a few at a time, turning once.
Fry until hush puppies are golden brown (3 to 5 minutes).
Drain well on paper towels. Makes about 2 dozen.
