Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 Tbsp. bacon drippings or shortening
    4 c. peeled raw potatoes, cubed
    1/2 c. chopped parsley
    1 c. minced onion
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    5 c. chicken stock
    2 c. half and half
    4 Tbsp. flour
    1 c. grated raw carrots
Preparation
    Melt shortening and saute potatoes, parsley, onion, one bay leaf, salt and pepper over medium heat.
    Then cook covered 15 to 20 minutes over low heat.
    Add chicken stock and cook 15 minutes. Mix half and half with flour and stir into soup.
    Keep stirring so no lumps form.
    Simmer soup for at least 30 minutes.
    Add grated carrots and cook 5 minutes longer.
