Aunt Velma Brown'S Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. cream
    1/8 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 lb. pecans
    1/4 c. butter
Preparation
    Melt butter and 1 cup sugar in heavy iron skillet.
    Pour slowly over remaining sugar and cream.
    Cook to firm boil stage (246\u00b0), stirring constantly to prevent burning.
    Remove from heat. Add soda and stir.
    Add butter and cool 10 minutes. Add vanilla and beat until stiff.
    Blend in pecans.
    Pour in greased pan and cut into squares.
