Mom'S English Toffee Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter (not margarine)
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg, separated
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 275\u00b0. Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg yolk and mix. Add flour and cinnamon and mix thoroughly. Spread in an even layer over entire surface of a greased cookie sheet with sides. Beat egg white slightly and spread over top. Sprinkle pecans evenly over top and lightly pat into dough. Bake at 275\u00b0 for 1 hour until lightly browned. Cut into squares while still warm.
