Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    24 cucumbers (5 lb.)
    12 onions
    1 qt. vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. large mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. turmeric
    1/2 c. salt
    ice
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and onions thin.
    Mix cucumbers and onions with salt and ice in layers.
    Let stand for 2 hours and drain. Mix vinegar, sugar and spices.
    Heat to boiling point.
    Put in cucumbers and onions after draining.
    Bring to boiling again but do not boil.
    Put in jars and seal.
