War Cake (World War I) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 box raisins
2 c. sugar (rounded)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. hot water
1 c. lard or butter
1 tsp. soda
1 c. preserves (whatever kind you like)
2 tsp. baking powder
about 4 c. flour for a stiff batter
Preparation

Boil first 9 ingredients for 3 minutes.
Add preserves, then add baking powder and the flour to make a stiff batter.
Pour in tube pan.
Bake in moderate oven.
