Date Cherry Loaf - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
8 oz. maraschino cherries drained and cut in half (save 1/2 c. of cherry juice and add to 1/2 c. boiling water)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Combine dates, cherries, water with juice and baking soda.
Set aside.
Cream sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla.
Add flour and date mixture alternately.
Line loaf pan with waxed paper and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
