Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter (1 stick)
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    6 oz. chocolate chips (or less)
Preparation
    Spread 2/3 of chopped nuts in a 9 x 12-inch area on Teflon cookie sheet.
    Melt butter in saucepan (1 or 1 1/2-quart) on medium-high heat.
    Add sugars.
    Stir while cooking to 300\u00b0. (Watch for two or three puffs of smoke that indicate sugar is beginning to scorch.)
    Remove from heat and pour over the nuts on the sheet, carefully, to cover as much as possible.
    Quickly sprinkle chocolate chips on hot candy to melt.
    Spread chocolate. Sprinkle remaining nuts on top.
    Cool.
    Break into pieces.
