Florey'S Barbecue Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion (Vidalia in season)
    3 Tbsp. regular oil
    1/4 c. red wine vinegar
    1 c. water
    2 c. bottled chili sauce
    3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    juice of 2 lemons
    1 Tbsp. dry mustard
    1 Tbsp. paprika
    dash of cayenne pepper
    2 Tbsp. cognac (optional)
    salt and freshly ground pepper
    2 cloves minced garlic
    1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
Preparation
    Heat the oil and saute the onion in a large stainless steel skillet over medium heat until it begins to brown.
    Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Lower heat and simmer for thirty minutes.
    Sauce may be used right away or placed in a covered glass jar.
    Store in refrigeration for one month.
    Great on chops, poultry and especially ribs.
