Old-Fashioned Tomato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can tomatoes with liquid, cut up
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 to 1/2 tsp. garlic salt (optional)
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    salt to taste
    1 qt. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, bring tomatoes to a boil.
    Add baking soda, garlic salt, pepper and salt, as desired.
    Reduce heat.
    Add the milk and butter.
    Heat through, but do not boil.
    Garnish with parsley, if desired.
