Aunt Lola'S Golden Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. grated lemon peel
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2/3 c. milk
    3 eggs
Preparation
    Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
    Stir the shortening to soften.
    Gradually add sugar and cream together until light and fluffy.
    Beat 3 minutes on medium speed.
    Add lemon peel and juice.
    Add milk and mix enough to break up creamed mixture. Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time; beat until well blended.
    Pour into greased 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour and 25 minutes.
    When cooled, sift confectioners sugar over top.
