Fruit Squares European Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    3 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    4 egg yolks
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 pt. sour cream
    grated rind from 1 lemon
    1 tsp. lemon juice
Preparation
    Work the butter and flour like for a pie crust.
    Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
    Spread on ungreased cookie sheet and pat down with spatula.
    Retain a little batter and add enough flour to make it thick enough to roll between the palms of hands to make crisscross strips.
    Spread fruit preserves over batter and sprinkle the top with nuts, then place the crisscross strips over top.
    Bake in a 325\u00b0 oven for 1/2 hour.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
