Sopaipillas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. warm water
Preparation
Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal.
Gradually add the water, stirring with a fork (dough will be crumbly).
Turn onto a floured surface and knead into a soft ball.
Divide the dough in half and let stand 10 minutes.
Roll each half into a 12 x 10-inch rectangle and cut into 2 1/2-inch squares. (Do not re-roll or patch dough.)
Deep fry a few at a time in fat until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve with Honey Butter or roll in cinnamon and sugar.
