West Haven Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 small box pitted dates, halved
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. boiling water
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 to 2 c. flour
1/2 pkg. chocolate chips (6 oz. pkg.)

Preparation

Mix the first four ingredients together then set aside. Mix the
last
five
ingredients
together in a separate bowl. Combine both mixtures.
Pour batter
into
cake pan.
Top with the remaining one-half pack of
chocolate
chips; bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
