My Mother'S Orange Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 egg whites
    1 c. whole milk
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening; add slightly beaten egg whites. Mix flour, baking powder and salt and add alternately with milk to creamed mixture.
    Pour into two 8 or 9-inch cake pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Cool and spread filling between layers and on top of cake.
