Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 1/2 lb. green tomatoes
    1/2 c. salt
    5 medium onions
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    2 c. white vinegar
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Slice tomatoes and onions, sprinkle the salt over and let stand for 1 hour.
    Rinse in cold water.
    Combine other ingredients.
    Heat to boiling point.
    Put in tomatoes and onions. Bring to boil again.
    Fill jars and seal.
