Orange Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    rinds of 3 large oranges, clipped fine
    2 c. water
    2 c .sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 egg, beaten slightly
    2 Tbsp. melted fat
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Cook cut peel in water until peel is tender, about 20 minutes. Add the sugar and cook 30 minutes longer with a very low heat. Let cool.
    Add milk, egg, fat and sifted dry ingredients.
    Mix well and turn into two well-greased bread pans.
    Let stand 25 minutes, then bake 1 hour at 375\u00b0.
    Brush top with soft butter when removed from oven.
