Shrimp Masala(Pakistan) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. shrimp, shelled and deveined
    5 cloves garlic
    1 Tbsp. chopped fresh ginger
    1 tsp. coriander powder
    1 tsp. cumin powder
    1/2 tsp. red pepper
    3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    2 c. fresh shredded coconut, soaked for 1 hour in 3 c. water
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Grind together the garlic, ginger, coriander, cumin and red pepper to a paste.
    Heat oil in a pan; add onion.
    Saute onions. Add ground paste and cook until oil separates about 15 minutes on a low temperature.
    Strain coconut.
    Add coconut milk to the onions and bring to a boil, then simmer over medium low heat 15 minutes.
    Add shrimp and simmer until shrimp is done, about 8 to 10 minutes.
