Low Country Okra Soup With Shrimp - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. fresh okra, chopped
1 c. onion, chopped fine
1 c. bell pepper, chopped
1 lb. can whole tomatoes, chopped
1 (6 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
Preparation

Put tomatoes, onion, bell pepper and tomato sauce in saucepan. Simmer, the longer the better (20 to 30 minutes at least).
Cook okra in hot bacon fat in skillet until light brown.
Cook shrimp just until pink.
Add shrimp and okra to sauce and simmer 15 minutes.
Serve over rice.
Can add ham cubes for additional flavor.
