Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. butter
2 c. flour
2 eggs, well beaten
1 heaping tsp. soda
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
2/3 c. cocoa, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk (or add 1 tsp. vinegar to 1 c. sour milk)
