Melrose Hare'S Coconut Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (9-inch) baked pie crust
    3 eggs, separated
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. cornstarch
    2 c. rich milk, divided
    dash of salt
    1/4 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. coconut
Preparation
    Mix egg yolks, 1/2 cup milk, sugar, salt and cornstarch.
    In 2-quart saucepan, heat 1 1/2 cups milk to scalding.
    Add egg mixture, stirring constantly.
    Cook until filling is thick and boils.
    Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla and coconut. Pour into pie crust.
    Cover with egg white meringue and sprinkle coconut on top.
    Bake in oven at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until browned.
