Foundation Yellow Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter or part other shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 c. milk or water
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. baking powder
    3 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream the butter or shortening thoroughly in a deep bowl. (Have it soft before you start.)
    Add sugar gradually, beating until the mixture is fluffy and light like whipped cream. Add eggs, beaten until light. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with liquid, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
    Beat thoroughly and add flavoring.
    Bake in layers or flat loaf pan in preheated 375\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
    Makes 2 large squares or 3 layers.
