Apple Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    grated rind and juice from 1/2 orange
    1/2 c. chopped apples (peeled or unpeeled)
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. cake flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Combine milk, egg and margarine.
    Add orange rind and juice, apples and vanilla.
    Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Stir in milk mixture with a spoon until blended.
    Drop batter by spoonfuls into one-half inch hot oil.
    Fry to golden brown.
    Drain on paper towel.
    Sprinkle with white confectioners sugar.
    Makes about 24 fritters.
