Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 scant Tbsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Beat sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs together.
Add all the other ingredients and mix well.
Refrigerate overnight before frying.
