Ingredients

2 tsp. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
4 1/2 c. flour
5 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. milk
grease for deep frying
Preparation

Cream shortening with sugar.
Stir in eggs.
Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture.
Add mix gradually. Roll out dough to about 1/3-inch thickness, handling as little as possible.
Cut out doughnuts; fry in deep fryer or skillet.
Fry until doughnuts rise to surface and brown each side 1 minute.
