Super Snaps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    3/4 c. shortening (do not substitute oil!)
    1 egg
    4 Tbsp. molasses
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Cream together the brown sugar and shortening.
    Add the egg and molasses.
    Sift together and stir in the dry ingredients.
    Mix thoroughly.
    Spread all in one large greased cookie pan (jelly roll pan).
    Sprinkle top with granulated sugar.
    Bake only 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Remove from oven and cool slightly.
    Cut straight rows the long way.
    Cut diagonals the short way, making diamond shapes.
