Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. white corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    2 egg whites, beaten until stiff
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Mix
    sugar, syrup and water;
    cook until mixture reaches 240\u00b0 on
    candy
    thermometer.
    Pour
    1/2 of the mixture over the beaten egg
    whites,
    and
    stir well.
    Cook the remaining 1/2 of the sugar mixture
    until it reaches 290\u00b0 on candy thermometer. Pour into egg white mixture.
    Beat until thick and creamy.
    Add vanilla and pecans.
    Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
    This mixture hardens rapidly so it has to be finished quickly.
