Mary'S Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Boil for 5 minutes (rapid boil).
Cool at least 2 hours, then add 3 cups flour and 2 teaspoons baking soda.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 45 to 50 minutes in 9 x 13-inch pan (buttered).
Serves 12.
