English Almond Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. almonds or English walnuts
    1 lb. butter
    2 c. sugar
    2 lb. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Chop nuts fine.
    In a heavy pan, cook butter and sugar.
    Cook and stir until dark tan (also can see a little smoke coming up). Pour onto two 12 x 24-inch buttered cookie sheets.
    Spread evenly. Pour over each pan 1 pound chocolate chips, spread evenly. Sprinkle nuts on top.
    Cut up after chocolate is very hard.
    (Very hard to cut.)
