Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c. lard
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. each cloves, cinnamon
Preparation

Cream butter, lard and sugar in mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Blend in egg and molasses.
Add sifted dry ingredients; mix well.
Blend in 1 cup very hot water.
Pour into greased and floured pan (9 x 13-inch).
Bake for 35 minutes.
Cut into squares.
