Red Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    8 c. shredded red cabbage
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    1/4 c. vinegar
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 to 2 medium apples, chopped
    1/4 c. red currant jelly
Preparation
    In heavy saucepan, melt shortening.
    Add cabbage, onion, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar and salt.
    Stir well.
    Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes (until cabbage is crisp-tender).
    Add apples and cook 10 to 15 minutes more, until cabbage and apples are tender.
    Stir in jelly and put in serving dish.
    Garnish with lemon slices.
