Calico Country Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 bag mixed beans (15 or 16 kinds)
1 tsp. salt
ham bone and 1 lb. ham pieces
1 can Ro-Tel tomatoes and chilies
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. oregano
1/8 tsp. sage
1/8 tsp. chili powder
salt and pepper
Preparation

Wash beans and cover with water.
Add salt and soak overnight. Drain beans and put in 2 quarts fresh water.
Add a ham bone and ham pieces.
Cook approximately 1 hour.
Add tomatoes and chilies, sugar, oregano, sage and chili powder.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Simmer all together for another hour or until beans are done.
Serve with hot cornbread or corn muffins.
