Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 to 16 c. cucumbers, sliced
    3 c. onions, sliced
    3 Tbsp. salt
    2 c. white vinegar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. powdered alum
Preparation
    Sprinkle cucumbers and onions with the salt.
    Let stand for 3 hours.
    Don't wash off salt.
    Mix together vinegar, celery seed, turmeric and powdered alum; add by pouring over cucumbers.
    Mix real good.
    Let stand 1 week.
    Can be kept in refrigerator.
