Taffy Apple Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cornstarch
    2 tsp. lemon juice
    1 egg, beaten
    1 (20 oz.) can pineapple chunks
    1 (8 oz.) carton Cool Whip
    3 medium Red Delicious apples
    2 c. miniature marshmallows
    1 1/2 c. salted peanuts
Preparation
    In saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, egg and juice from canned pineapple.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens (4 to 5 minutes).
    Cool.
    Stir in whipped topping.
    In a large bowl, mix apples, pineapple chunks, marshmallows and peanuts.
    Pour in dressing mixture.
    Toss well. Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours.
