Fig Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. lemon juice
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Beat well the butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla and lemon juice.
    Sift dry ingredients.
    Mix with butter mixture.
    Chill 1 1/2 cups figs or ground dried fruit with 1 cup water.
    Cook 5 minutes.
    Add 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons flour.
    Cook 3 minutes; chill.
    Take dough and cut in half.
    Roll to 1/4-inch thickness in stripes about half as wide as length; spread filling down center.
    Turn edges over to center.
    Pinch together tight. Place on baking sheet cut side down.
    Bake 15 minutes at 375\u00b0. Remove.
    Cut in 2-inch slices.
