Morning Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    5 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
Preheat oven to 425\u00b0. Sift dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Make a well in the middle of the mixture and pour in buttermilk. Mix just until ingredients are combined and a soft dough is formed. Do not overmix. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough gently until it is soft and elastic (not sticky). Pat dough out until about 1/2-inch thick. Cut circles with a cookie cutter or drinking glass. Place the biscuits 1/2-inch apart on lightly greased baking sheet for a crisp-crusted biscuit or touching each other for a softer biscuit. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
